Fred Tkachuk
September 2, 1931 - October 18, 2017
The family of Fred Tkachuk is sorry to announce his passing on October 18, 2017 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
Fred was born in 1931 in Enderby, BC to John and Antonina and was the youngest of three brothers who were all raised on a farm in Spallumcheen which he would eventually purchase from his parents and then farm for over 40 years.
Fred married the love of his life, Irene, in 1966 who gave birth to their 2 sons Stuart (Adrienne) in 1967 and Gregory in 1969.
Fred was a very talented farmer and carpenter and one of the hardest working men around. In his spare time Fred would go bowling, play pool (he was quite the pool shark!) or indulge in one of his many woodworking projects. Fred was respected by his friends and deeply loved by his family and will be terribly missed by all of them.
Fred was predeceased by his wife Irene in 2012, by his brothers Pete and Mike in 2002, and by his parents John in 1976 and Antonina in 1989.
There will be a graveside service at 1 pm on November 4, 2017 at the Armstrong-Spallumcheen Cemetery.
The Tkachuk family would like to extend our gratitude to the nurses and care aides from Interior Health and elsewhere who gave Fred such wonderful care in his final years.
Donations in Fred's memory may be given to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation or to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
