Enderby resident, Garnet Robert Stanley, born at Estevan, Sk., on August 9, 1923, passed away peacefully at Hospice House, Vernon on Tuesday, February 23, 2010.
Garnet will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Emily; four sons, Gord (Wendy), Dennis (Darlene), Jim (Carol) and Terry (Cheryl); three daughters, Carol (Dennis), Linda (George) and Cheryl (Bick); seventeen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one sister Ruby; extended family and many friends. He was predeceased by sisters, Velma, Rosa and Nora and brother, Harvey.
Garnet retired from the sawmill in 1986 and enjoyed many years of fishing, traveling, family and tinkering in his workshop.
The family would like to thank Dr. Annan, Dr. De Beer, the nurses and staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital for their care of Garnet. A special thank you to Hospice House staff for the compassion shown to Garnet and all the family.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the Chapel of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 2980 Smith Drive, Armstrong. George Rands officiating. Following the service, a tea will be held at the Chapel. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Garnet’s memory may be made to North Okanagan Hospice Society.
