NEWCOMB, Gerald Wayne
Gerald Wayne Newcomb, at the age of 61 years, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife, Marilyn, and in the presence of his son, Mark, and their four legged kids, Babe and Neeko, on his lap, at Hospice House, Vernon, BC on August 29, 2010. Gerry was born March 27, 1949 in Vernon and raised in Vernon. He owned his own business, Ben’s Meat Market, and after selling the business he tried his hand at selling cars at Toyota and later at commercial fishing. Later he became meat manager of Super Valu at Polson Mall and following its closure Gerry worked for Coopers in Vernon and then in Lake Country. Gerry was very special always with a kind word and a smile that would light up a room and would go out of his way to help others. He loved camping and fishing at his favourite lake and enjoyed holidaying in the winter in Mexico. The game of Saduko was his addiction. His father, Ken Newcomb, predeceased him. Gerry will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Marilyn; son, Mark Radonz; mother, Mary Newcomb; brother, Ken (Betty) Newcomb; sister-in-law, Barb (Don) Berger and numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn would like to thank all their wonderful friends who were there for them in their time of need. Thank you to the many doctors, nurses and volunteers at the hospital and Hospice for their support and compassionate care given to Gerry in his final journey. In respecting Gerry’s wishes there will be no service. Those wishing to do so may make a memorial donation in Gerry’s memory to North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, #104, 3402 – 27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S1.
