Gardie was born to Hubert Hill and Louisa Wilson, August 5, 1908 in a homestead by the river near Gladys Ridge, AB. He lived and farmed in Blackie, AB, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Margaret McDonald. Two months later, they eloped and married at Calgary, AB in 1930. Gardie later worked with Massey Harris in Calgary until retirement. They then made their home in High River, AB and later moved to Vernon, BC. For the past few years, Gardie enjoyed living at Coldstream Meadows where the staff was very caring and he made good friends. Gardie loved children and a real highlight of being at Coldstream Meadows was Mrs. Mackenzie and the kids from the terrific Meadow School Project. He enjoyed the children’s visits and their stories immensely and the children enjoyed all the wonderful stories he told about “the old days”.
