Helen slipped away peacefully on August 10th at Creekside Landing. Helen was born in Niesky, Germany on November 25, 1916 and immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s. She married Joachim Zickmantel in 1965 and moved to the Falkland Ranch. Her husband predeceased her in 1977.
As a longtime resident of Vernon, she was active in Trinity United Church, and made many lasting friendships.
She is survived by her nephew, Fred Weiss, her stepchildren, Hans Zickmantel and Brigitte Reimer, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who remember her for her kindness and generosity.
A family celebration will be held in Vancouver at a later date.
The family is indebted to the caring staff at Creekside Landing where she had been a resident for the past ten years.
