HUGH ALEXANDER SCOTT

1921 – 2007

Hugh Alexander Scott went Home to be with his Lord on Friday, February 23rd, 2007 after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Hugh was born near Ballymena, Northern Ireland on October 1st, 1921. He came to Canada with his family when he was four years old and grew up on a farm near Wilkie, Saskatchewan. Hugh led an interesting career working at a salt plant in Palo, Saskatchewan and then in Uranium City, Dawson Creek, Williams Lake, Campbell River, Prince George and Vernon where he eventually retired in 1985. His work in these areas were all related to electrical and diesel engineering and maintenance, mostly with BC Hydro. Hugh’s faith in the Lord was of utmost importance having taught Sunday School and serving in many areas in the church. He married Lydia in 1961 and together they lived in Prince George and relocated to Vernon in 1973 where he worked for BC Hydro until his retirement. Hugh is survived by his loving wife, Lydia, to whom he was married for 45 years, his sister, Eileen (Jack) Quick, his nieces and nephew, Judy (Roger) Piche, David Quick, Shirley (Eamonn) Quick and Joan Quick and great nieces, Carolyn, Amy, Ciara and Jenny. He was predeceased by his parents, William & Emily Scott and his sister, Tillie Scott. The Funeral Service will be held at Vernon Gospel Chapel, 4106 Pleasant Valley Road, on Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. with interment following in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. V6C 1K4, Morning Star Bible Camp or to the charity of their choice. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Remington and Dr. De Beer and the staff at Polson Extended Care Unit who so kindly cared for Hugh, and many thanks to Kerry Heidebrecht at Bethel Funeral Chapel for the kind and caring way he has looked after the funeral arrangements.
