Irene Ricketts

Irene Blanche Ricketts (Woodcock)

1929 – 2007

Surrounded by her loving family Irene passed away on Mar. 31 at the Vernon Hospice House. Irene was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Oct. 7, 1929. She and her family lived in other towns in Saskatchewan and Ontario before settling to the Vernon area in 1939.

In 1948, Irene married George Nairn Ricketts. Together they operated a small farm on Okanagan Landing Road, which they developed into Big Chief Mobile Home Park in the mid 1960s. Through the years Irene had many interests and traveling with George to different parts of the world she saw amazing things. Yet, she received the greatest pleasure from her family that meant so much to her. She loved each of us and enjoyed hearing about our life experiences.

Mourning her passing are daughter Maureen (Rob) Irwin, son George (Darlene) Ricketts, grandchildren Teresa (Kurt) Wittig, Robyn Irwin, Darren Irwin, Courtenay (Steve) Medwedew, Chelsea Ricketts, and Jeff Ricketts, great grandchildren Tyler and Brodie Wittig and Grayson and Emery Medwedew, sister Eleanor (Jake) Reimer, brother Stuart (Nancy) Woodcock, numerous nieces and nephews, and many good friends. Irene was predeceased by her son Danny, sister Lorna, and her husband George. Irene has requested that there be no service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the Vernon and District Hospice Society, 3506-27th Ave., Vernon, BC, V1T 1S6, or the Canadian Cancer Society, 101-3402 27th Ave., Vernon, BC, V1T 1S1.

Forever missed and forever loved.
