JACK WILSON

Jack Alfred WILSON

January 18, 1933 – October 8, 2007

Jack Wilson passed away in Royal Inland Hospital, Kamloops, BC, on October 8, 2007, after a brief illness. He was 74 years of age.

Born in Vernon BC on January 18, 1933, in his early

working days Jack went from delivering bread to working the railroad. He was also a sign painter. These jobs proved to be unfulfilling for Jack. He found tremendous satisfaction as a logger and roadbuilder working in Brennan Creek for 9 years. Jack settled in Vavenby, BC in 1972, where he spent the remainder of his life. He could be described as a perfectionist and an extremely hard worker, and will also be remembered as an excellent carpenter and an “overbuilder”. It was important to Jack that anything he built last forever.

Jack loved hunting. Nicknamed “Sniper” because of his excellent marksmanship — a skill he learned from his father — he has been described as a person who forgot more about the bush than many people know. He also loved to fish. Jack prided

himself on discovering virgin ice fishing places; he never used a place where others had been — much to the chagrin of family and friends who trudged with him through dense snowy woods on winter fishing trips! He was known as someone always on the lookout for bigger fish and a better lake.

Jack referred to himself as “someone who worked hard and played hard”. He was also a good hearted man; he would help anybody who needed help — whether he knew them or not. One time he gave away his pickup truck. On other occasions he came home without his coat and no money — he’d given them away to

someone in need!

Jack is survived by his daughter Charlene (Jim) Tobin; son Guy (Val) Wilson; Jacquie (Dale) Miller; grandchildren Jilene Tobin, Cory Wilson, Krista Wilson (Chris), Garick Radmacher, Janell

Harrison; great grandchild Kalie; brother Billy (Marjorie) Wilson; and his special buddy, his dog Willy. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Lily (nee Smith) Wilson; his wife Maria

Shirley (nee Malowany) and his sister, Lily Wilson.
