JAMES MORO

JAMES (JIM) A. MORO

With much sadness and regret we announce the passing of Jim on July 1, 2003 with his loving wife by his side. He fought a long, hard courageous battle with cancer until the final moment.

He was born in Thunder Bay, March 31, 1934. He grew up in this community until his arrival in Vernon, BC in the Fall of 1957 where he became one of the more talented members of the Senior “A” Vernon Canadians. During his career he exhibited his skills in many cities including Calgary, Spokane and Victoria before returning to Vernon. Here, he took a position with the City of Vernon until his retirement in 1995. Jim’s golfing skills were greatly admired at the Spallumcheen Golf Club. His 12 handicap was the envy of his hockey-playing buddies. He also enjoyed his baseball days during the early sixties. Jim’s sense of humor, quick-wittedness and one-liners were very enjoyed by his large circle of friends. He was pre-deceased by son Jamie and brothers Jack, Len, Var and sister Ida. Surviving are his wife Nancy, sisters Mary, Anita, brother Emil and many extended family members. A private family service will be held at graveside. Celebration of Life will be held at the ANAVETS #5 Hall, 2500 – 46th Avenue, Vernon, Saturday July 5th at 2:00 p.m. We would appreciate the attendance of Jim’s many friends and acquaintances. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hospice Society, 3506 27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4. Arrangements are in care of Vernon Funeral Home.
