James (Jamie) William Miller, 68, of Vernon, British Columbia, passed away on April 4, 2017. Jamie was born in London, Ontario, to James (Dusty) Simpson Miller and Kathryn (Katie) Miller on March 25, 1949. As the oldest son of an Air Force family, Jamie went to a number of schools, graduating from Downsview Collegiate in Toronto. He then travelled to

Vancouver to attend Simon Fraser University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in geography. After working as a child care counsellor for the provincial government for ten years, Jamie made a complete career change in 1982, opening Build & Save, a plumbing,

heating and electrical store in Vernon. A few years later, he started one of Vernon’s first computer store, PCM Systems, which is still in operation today. Jamie was an avid reader and movie lover. He also enjoyed discussing politics and current affairs with his lunch club every second Saturday at

Rosalinda’s. Jamie had a soft spot for those in need, often helping those who were down and out. His love for coca-cola (in glass bottles), chocolate milk, fresh squeezed orange juice, red meat and potatoes was eclipsed only by his hatred for broccoli and most of the vegetable family. In his younger days, Jamie enjoyed snorkeling, scuba diving and downhill skiing. In most recent years, Jamie enjoyed binge watching shows and movies from the comfort of his Lazy Boy and chatting with customers and passersby. Jamie is preceded in death by his parents and friend, Bob Holmes. He is survived by: his daughter (Birch Kathryn Neame Miller); his brothers (Scott Rusty Miller and John Davidson Miller); his special friend (Elizabeth Kozub) and son (Tyler Kozub); his close friends (Jimmy Kicey, Bob Menzies, Stan Watts); PCM Systems employees, including his trusted employee of 30 years (Darrel Hubick); and his PCM customers and Vernon business and community associates.
