John Colter passed away peacefully in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Tuesday, March 13th, 2007 at the age of 83 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ella, to whom he was married for 54 years, one son, Eric (Debi) of Vernon, B.C., two daughters, May (John) Lawrence of Chilliwack, B.C. and June White (Tim Scott) of Vernon, B.C. and his grandchildren, Tyler and Tamara of Vernon, B.C. and Jason and Eric of Kelowna, B.C. John was predeceased by his youngest son, Charlie in 1976. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. John was born in Drumheller, Alberta on May 28th, 1923. He then moved to B.C. where he went to school in Armstrong. He joined the B.C. Dragoons Armed Regiment in 1939 and served overseas in W.W.II. The Regiment’s nickname was “Whizzbangs.” John loved to drive and did so professionally for Greyhound Bus Lines and the School District as a school bus driver. He especially enjoyed driving bus for elementary and special needs children. He retired in 1985. Cremation preceded a Celebration Of John’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 16th, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Murray Ververda officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel.
