It is with great sadness to announce the passing of JOHN HUMENY at the age of 71 yrs. He will truly be missed. John is survived by wife Muriel and son John. Also surviving are three children from a previous marriage, Pearl, Brenda and Larry, 3 stepchildren, Robert, Mark & Rick, 1 sister, Nellie (Dolly) Prokopp, cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Predeceased by mother Anna, father, Bill, 1 brother, 1 daughter Sharon and sister Helen. John retired from RCAF (22 yrs. of service) in 1975 – moved to Vernon, BC (where he had lived and enjoyed his early years from the age of 10). Employed by Canada Post (Vernon) in 1976 – retired in 1992. “Gone Fishing”. John enjoyed the simple pleasures of life – loved the country life, the outdoors – fishing, camping – especially his favorite spots, Haddo Lake (in particular) & Nicklen Lake in the Dee Lake Chain. He, his wife and son enjoyed many years fishing and camping. One hobby was growing his tomatoes. and cucumbers. In the fall, his pastime was watching his #1 hockey team, the Vancouver Canucks. John counted his blessings, family, good friends, his co-workers (Canadian Forces & Canada Post) and good neighbors. At John’s request, no funeral service will be held. Care and cremation (as requested) will be through the Vernon Funeral Home. A special thank you to Mr. Dan Mainland – Vernon Funeral Home for his guidance and advice. John’s message – Cherish each day of this special gift “Life”. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to B.C Cancer Foundation or BC Lung Association.
