It is truly sad to announce the unexpected passing in the morning of July 29th, 2009 of a wonderful man, John (Jack) Andersen, at the age of 71.
Jack was born in Cranbrook, BC on January 23, 1938 and spent his formative years in Lumby before starting a career with OK Tel in Vernon and later with BC Tel in Vancouver. Jack retired from work in 1993 and moved back to the Vernon area to be closer to his family and the places where he grew up. He was actively into golf, bowling and curling, as well as the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Diabetes Association. Jack was involved for many years with the Kinsmen in both Vernon and Vancouver, and later became involved with the Freemasons.
There are so many fond memories of this dear man – known as a father, a brother, a cousin, an uncle, and always an honest and good friend. Dad, you will always be remembered and cherished by all whose lives you have touched.
A Service of` Remembrance was held in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Thursday, August 6, 2009. The service was conducted by Reverend Bob Thompson. Very sincere thanks to everyone for their kind thoughts and good wishes.
Should friends desire, donations to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated in memory of Jack.
