JOHN PARKINSON

John Roy Parkinson (Jack), born May 1st, 1933 died peacefully at his home in Vernon B.C., October 13th 2004 after a courageous 2 year struggle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Shirley, son Lyle (Bonnie), daughters Catherine Parkinson (Bob Anderson), Morgan Parkinson (William Bell), 5 stepchildren, Sharon (Larry) Lockwood, Cathy(John) Pineo, Pat (David) Gunn, Raymond (Debbie) deBoer, and Barbara (Steve) MacPhail, 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Nellie Parkinson and Stanley Parkinson, 1st wife Patricia (1983) and sons Michael (1988) and Richard (1995). Jack was a grandson of a pioneering family that settled in Hullcar area of Armstrong B.C in the 1870’s. He continued the family legacy of farming for many years and later sold the Lansdowne farm and worked for the Ministry of Forestry, and later as a Power Engineer. A Memorial Service was held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2004, at Zion United Church, Armstrong. Reverend Lorraine Powell officiating. Internment service to be held in the Hullcar cemetery with family only. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca).
