January 14, 1950 - July 29, 2017

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of John on July 29, 2017. He will be greatly missed by his wife Bonnie and their three children Jarrod, Nicole and Christopher. Who, through example, gave them many strong virtues to apply throughout their lives.

John was an outdoor enthusiast who could be found outside during all seasons. In the winter, he was often in a forest cross-country skiing, snowshoeing up Noble Canyon or ice-skating. In the summer he enjoyed hiking, camping, building tree stands or just sitting watching the wildlife around him. His greatest passion was fishing. He was an avid fly fisherman who could be found casting his own invented flies in an effort to catch and release the next big one.

He was a lifelong learner and was always curious. His curiosities lead him to learn many things from beekeeping to developing a passion of gardening, which was always evolving, as was his yard.

John was a compassionate man who was always caring for those around him. He was an active member of the Lavington community and spent many hours with Gordy at the ice rink and made sure there was enough wood for the fire.

His greatest joy was being with his family. His family and friends will greatly miss John and will keep the memories of him alive through stories and laughter.

There will be no service by John’s request and in lieu of flowers please donate to either the Vernon Jubilee or Kelowna General Hospital.
