It is with sadness we announce the passing of Clement Bru, at the age of 83 years, at Hospice House, Vernon, British Columbia on June 23, 2009. Clem was born March 31, 1926 in Jackfish, Saskatchewan where he later met and married his wife Lorraine in 1949. They moved to North Battleford, Saskatchewan where all his six children were born. In 1966 Clem, Lorraine and family moved to Vernon, British Columbia. Left to cherish Clem’s memory are his loving wife Lorraine, to whom he was married for 59 years; his children Juliette (Dave) Cunningham and her family Nicole and Chad Cooney; Carmen Porter and family Mason and Nadine Porter; Ernie Bru and family Leia and Brittany Bru; Theresa Bru and family Maela and Brayden Bru; Susan Bru; Corine Bru (Mark Wasyliuk). His great grandchildren Tyler, Brenden, Shea and Kaysa will greatly miss him. Clem is further survived by his brother George (Joan) Bru of North Battleford, Saskatchewan; two step grandchildren Adam and Mia; one step great grandchild Quinn; numerous nieces and nephews. His furry friend Bagel will miss him too. The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and compassion Clem received from Dr. Pritchett and Nurse Jill, Nurse Bob and the Palliative Care Team and the caring staff and volunteers at Hospice House.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2009 at St. James Catholic Church, 2607 – 27 Street, Vernon, B.C. with the Rev. Father Martin Peyton, Celebrant. A tea will follow at Schubert Centre, 3505 – 30th Avenue, Vernon, B.C.
