It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyace Ann Case.
Joyace will be dearly missed by her loving husband of almost 55 years, Ken Case. Born on September 15, 1940 to Margaret and Murray Langton, she is survived by: her husband Ken, her children Brad, Kary (husband Kris), Laurie (husband Glenn) and her grandchildren Kaydon and Brae Booth and Rachel and AJ Mizuyabu.
She was a treasured sister to Carol, Cliff, Bernice and Roddy and she will be missed by her dozens of nieces and nephews and her countless friends in the community.
Joyace and Ken spent their entire married life in Enderby and together they raised their three kids on the family farm in Ashton Creek. Joyace was a fixture in the community through her ownership of Little City Fashions, by volunteering for various community and service organizations and by being a dedicated and loyal Enderby citizen (she was awarded Citizen of the Year in 1984).
Retiring in 2006, she spent her remaining years enjoying her grandchildren, her extended family and her little piece of paradise on Okanagan Lake with Ken.
Her health began to fail several years ago and eventually a diagnosis of dementia confirmed the family's fears. Ken took great care of her at home and at their cabin until other health complications finally made it too difficult.
She spent her last 7 months under the tremendous, kind and loving care of the Parkview Place staff. Joyace passed away peacefully on November 11, 2017 at the age of 77 with her family by her side.
This is a message written by a dear family friend and we feel this is a beautiful summation of a life well lived. Joyace truly made a difference for her family and her community:
"Your mom chose today for all of us. Now on Nov 11th I will remember her too and I will remember all the other women like her. Women who sacrificed and served their families and communities. No badges, no recognition. Few of them really entertained the idea of having time to their selves, time to pursue their own interests and desires. They lovingly just made it all happen - family meals, school projects and community gatherings. They showed us that women and girls could do anything. They never doubted our abilities because we are girls. She is part of the last generation of Western women who early in their lives, didn't question and didn't know that they had choices. But because of them we all now know and we all get to choose and our daughters get to choose. That's freedom. That's something to remember and celebrate. Lest we forget takes on a whole new meaning to me, thanks to your beautiful mama."
Joyace put the "Joy" in Joyace and her smile and laughter will live on in all of our memories forever.
A Service will be held on December 2, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ashton Creek Hall (3784 Trinity Valley Road, Enderby, BC V0E 1V0).
