June Gail Stacey

June Gail Stacey

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of June Gail Stacey (nee: Farnell). Gail died peacefully in her sleep, after a long struggle with both Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis, on Wednesday August 8th, 2007. Gail is survived by her loving husband Mervyn of Vernon, and her children; David Stacey (Ronna) of Vernon, Dr. Shean Stacey (Leticia) of Calgary, and Norma Hilsman (Bryce) also of Vernon. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, all who miss their “Nome” very much. Gail was born in Vancouver, B.C., and practiced nursing there for many years before retiring to Vernon with her husband. Gail spent her life in the service of others, and was affectionately called “Mom Stacey” by all her children’s friends. Gail will be remembered as a great neighbour, good friend, compassionate support, and amazing breadmaker. But most importantly Gail will be remembered as the glue that held us all together over the years. A funeral service was held at the Vernon Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and her remains were interred at the Coldstream Cemetery. June Gail Stacey loved everyone she met, and her great heart and hugs will be sorely missed.

We would like to thank ALL the great Nurses on the 3rd floor of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, and the Physicians who also provided such good care of her. A special mention and Thank-you to Dr. Curt Latham, whose skills surely prolonged our time with Mom.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in Gail’s name.

Condolences may be emailed to drstacey@telus.net.
