LARRY SMITH

DECEMBER 19,1916-FEBRUARY 23, 2004

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence (Larry) Henry Herbert Smith at Vernon Jubiliee Hospital on February 23, 2004 at 10:00 pm. Larry was predeceased by his wife, Ruby, and will be dearly missed by his only surviving sister Nina and numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his friends at the Legion, the Elks, the Army and Navy and the Schubert Centre. Larry was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan and moved as far away as England for five years. His family eventually returned from England and then moved to Langley but Larry chose to pedal his bike to the beautiful Northern Okanagan where he chose to start a new life. Once in Falkland, Larry operated a sawmill for a number of years, and then met his wife Ruby and retired in Vernon. In lieu of flowers, money can be donated to the Cancer Society or the Vernon Jubiliee Hospital Foundation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 2, at 1:00 pm, with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating, in the chapel of Vernon Funeral Home.
