Sadly, we announce the death of Iris Lilian Kathleen Finley (formerly Pilgrim, nee Lewis) on 2nd April 2004, the day after her 89th birthday. Her beloved husband Alex predeceased her in 1991. Iris will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Christine Pilgrim, son Tony Pilgrim, stepdaughter Agnes (Alexander) McLaren, Grandson Tom (Roshani) Edwards and great-granddaughter Zoe. Sister, Olive (Percy) Seear, will fondly miss her, as will residents and staff at Noric House where she lived for almost seventeen years. Iris was born in England in 1915, matriculated and became a shorthand secretary. She emigrated to Australia with her first husband Horace Pilgrim in 1950 and returned to England in 1960. After her first marriage ended, she visited Canada and fell in love with Alex Finley whom she married in 1970. They lived happily n Kamloops, Armstrong and Vernon. Iris loved to read, joke and sing; play Whist, Scrabble and Bingo; eat cookies, bananas and chocolate. Mostly, she loved her life. Cremation will take place on Good Friday. There will be a service in memory of Iris at St. James Anglican Church, Paterson Avenue, Armstrong on Easter Monday, April 12th, 2004 at 11am with Rev. Cory Rundell officiating. Family, friends and flowers are welcome. Her ashes will join those of Alex at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Vernon. Lunch will follow.
