LILLIAN MARJORIE NELSON

MARCH 11TH, 1921 – SEPTEMBER 5TH, 2007

Lillian “Marjorie” Nelson (nee Riley) peacefully passed away on September 5th, 2007, at the age of 86 years.

Marj was born in Tyndall, Manitoba. She was raised there. She taught in a rural school before leaving Manitoba after marrying her husband Earl Clifford Nelson. They settled in Port Coquitlam for a year before moving to Vernon in 1948. Marj taught kindergarten at Trinity United Church (1963-1968) and Coldstream Elementary School (1974-1981). United Church Women’s – Harmony Group, North Okanagan Naturalists Club, Schubert Centre, and Okanagan Artist League took some of her time. She enjoyed “the cabin” on the Westside of Okanagan Lake for many years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family, Erin and Leanne Nelson (Coldstream, BC), Cliff and Vivienne Nelson (Summerland, BC), Ralph and Deb Nelson (Kersley, BC), her grandchildren Courtney (Trevor) Hudema (Vernon, BC), Tracy (Curtis) Best (Lavington, BC), Braleigh Nelson, Dayleigh Nelson, Eveleigh Nelson (all in Summerland, BC), Matthew Nelson, Josh Nelson and Seth Nelson (all in Kersley, BC), great grandchildren, Tavyn-James Best, Marlea-Lynn Best, Garrin Best, Revay Hudema and Travis Hudema.

Marj was predeceased by her first husband, Earl, in March 1995, and her second husband, Stewart Phare in February 2000.

Funeral Services will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 4303 Pleasant Valley Road (Vernon) on Saturday, September 15th, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to a reception which will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to, may make donations to Canadian Diabetic Association, PO Box 1301, Vernon, BC V1T 6N6 or the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation designated to the Endowment Fund, 2101 – 32nd Street, Vernon, BC V1T 5L2.
