Lorna May Louisa Baron

Lorna May Louisa Baron died peacefully at home in Winnipeg on Monday, February 1, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 83 years.

Lorna was born in Argoed, South Wales. Orphaned at the age of 11, Lorna and her older sister, Audrey came to Niagara Falls, Ontario in 1938 to live with their uncle’s family. Her journey in Canada took her to Whitehorse, Yukon where she met and married Stanley Baron. Stan’s career with Canadian Pacific Airlines moved them to Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Calgary. Stan and Lorna retired to Vernon, BC in 1985 . After Stan’s death in 2003, Lorna returned to Winnipeg in 2007 to be closer to her family.

Lorna is survived by her children, Lynda Trenholm(Gordon), Jean McKenzie(Robert), Rob( Barb Penney) of Calgary, AB and Barbara McAllaster( Robert) of Kailua, Hawaii.; grandchildren, Robert(Jo-Anne), Julie(Martin), Daniel, Mary Jane, Chris, Mitchell, Sara and Kiana and great-grandson, Marcus. Lorna is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jo Salamandick, Nell Kureluk, and Jeanette Baron of Edmonton, AB and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Stan, her infant son, David, her parents, Clifford and Gertrude Russell, and her sister, Audrey Morse.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Parish, 847 St. Mary’s Road, on Friday, February, 5 at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Renato Pasinato presiding. A time of fellowship will follow in the parish hall. Interment will take place at a later date in Vernon, BC.
