Lorraine Gourlie

Forever Sunshine

If life were fair

the sun would know

to stop shining on us

she is gone;

his light is

needed to guide

her though the

darkness.

Shine on us

tomorrow

knowing now

that she can see…

for she was our

Sunshine.

On February 15, 2007, at the age of 59, Lorraine Delphine Gourlie (nee Sweder) departed this earth fleeing the darkness to embrace the light. She will always be cherished as a loving wife to her husband, Brian Gourlie, a laughing and caring mother to her daughters, Sherylee Gourlie and Angela Pardy, a devoted grandmother to her grandson Jeffrey Pardy, and her kindness remembered by her son in law Jason Pardy. Lorraine is being upheld in the thoughts and prayers of her older brother Leonard Sherman, younger brother Larry Sweder and his wife Lylia, Barry and Laurie Gourlie, and by all the Sweder, Dale, Gourlie, Pardy, Greenaway and Chenoweth family members. Her friends and ‘adopted’ children knew her as a compassionate counselor; it is this wisdom and tenderness that her words and presence brought that will live on in their hearts.

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents George and Louise Sweder, but to all who knew and loved her; know that she is free and at peace. Free to find her father and mother in their eternal walk – in search for that elusive first robin of spring.

We want to thank all of our loving family and friends for their support – for this we are truly blessed.

In the words of Lorraine’s favourite pastor “shalom” – may Peace and God be with you. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 23rd, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. from the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Community Baptist Church, 4911 Silver Star Road, Vernon, B.C. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the PLEASANT VALLEY FUNERAL HOME (542-4333).
