Lorraine is sadly missed by her children; Heather (Brent) Hrymak, their children, Carmen and Haley of Erickson, Manitoba; Maureen (Andrew Caron), their children Fraser and Emma of Nelson, B.C.; Bruce (Sue) of Nelson, B.C. and many friends and relatives. Jim, her husband of 53 years passed away earlier this month.

Lorraine was born in Winnipeg on March 25, 1929. She was a first generation Canadian Scottish descent. After graduating from the University of Manitoba, she accepted a teaching position in Turriff, Scotland where she met her future husband, Jim.

They moved to Brandon, Manitoba to raise their family. Lorraine was involved in the public school system and held jobs that included school board trustee and a high school and special needs teacher. Having raised their family, Jim and Lorraine moved to Vernon, B.C. where she worked at Okanagan College for 17 years teaching ESL exchange students.

Retiring in Nelson, she kept herself busy with many activites including tennis, singing in the choir, helping the senior’s book exchange, volunteering at the Red Cross, and being a grand friend at the local schools. Lorraine was an avid Knitter and many family members and friends treasure her projects. People who knew Lorraine apperciate her keen sense of humour, honesty and wisdom. Lorraine expressed compassion and interest in everyone she met.

Lorraine endured CREST syndrome with dignity and grace, all the while putting the needs of her family first and foremost. At her request there will be no service. Should friends desire, donations could be made to a charity of their choice.
