Margaret (Ashe) Morris-Reade

Mrs. Margaret (Ashe) Morris-Reade passed away in Vernon on May 16, 2005 at the age of 74 years. She is survived by her son, Paul of Vernon and her daughter Janet (Rainer Kastens) and family of Prince George as well as many more close family friends. She joins her husband Bill, who predeceased her on November 1, 2003. Marg has always been very active and enjoyed tennis, cross-country skiing, bowling, badminton, golf, tai chi, hiking, bird-watching and yoga, and has been involved with the United Church Women’s service group, the Silver Star Circle and the Okanagan Landing Circle for many years. She has had a life-long love of the arts and her community, volunteering her time to the success of the picture library and later, the art rental program through the Vernon Library. Until recently, she has been a season ticket holder to the Powerhouse Theatre productions and has been known to travel some distance just to catch a good play. Classical music was always heard in the Morris-Reade family home and Marg instilled an appreciation of art, music, and literature in her children. She has had life-long friends from high school, nurses’ training, her weekly bridge group, and from her many hours volunteering in the community. A special thank you to Drs. Cawkell and Curran, their staff, and the saint-like nurses and care-givers at Noric House for the outstanding dedication to Marg and sincere support of the family. A memorial service will be held at the BETHEL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 5605-27th Street, Vernon, BC V1T 8Z5 (1-250-542-1187) on Friday, May 27, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Marg may be sent to the Canadian Diabetic Association, P.O. Box 1301, Vernon, BC V1T 6N6.
