24 August 1929 - 01 July 2017

It is with great sadness that we wish to announce the passing of Marion “Lois” Fabi of Vernon, BC. Shortly after surgery at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital (VJH), Lois left us peacefully due to complications.

Lois was born in Port Colborne, ON where she met her husband Joe Fabi. They were married on July 29, 1955 at the Winnipeg Air Force Base. Joe’s military career took them to Montreal, Goose Bay, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Baden Soellingen and Ramstein, Germany with their last posting being Edmonton (1972). In 1990, Lois & Joe retired to Vernon.

Lois, an accomplished seamstress loved sewing for family, friends and community. She volunteered her community services for over 35 years. While in Vernon, Lois was very active with the Hospital Auxiliary and enjoyed her thousands of hours contributing her sewing talents.

Lois dedicated her life to her family. She loved her Golden Retriever dogs and did not miss a day giving them their daily walks.

Lois is survived by her husband of 62 years, Joe, sister Kay (Don) Noyes, sister-in-law Betty Miller, daughter Jan (Craig) Tomash, son Mike (Teresa) Fabi, grandchildren Kimberley (Chris) Culica, Dr. Andrew (Zoë) Tomash, Jim (Cass) Tomash, Jennifer (Tyler) Fabi, Justin (Adri) Fabi and great grandson Evan Culica who were all present with Lois either in person or spirit when she left us. She will be lovingly remembered by many extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Flying Officer Don Wincott missing in action WW II and Bud Wincott.

Our entire family would most especially like to thank Grace Ramoran, her Care Giver who provided dedicated and loving care for Lois over the past 4 years. In addition, special thanks to longtime neighbor and friend, Marita Ergotic and to the many home care staff from Interior Health and We Care. Finally, we would also like to thank the nursing staff and Physicians who watched over Lois on 3 West at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday August 26, 2017 at The Schubert Centre (3505 30th Ave.,Vernon, BC) from 2:00 - 4:00 pm in the Emerald room.
