Mrs. Mary Shaw went to be with her Lord on November 11th, 2005 at the age of 89 years. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family; son, Donald Webster Sr.. grandchildren, Pamela (Wayne) Miller, Mark Webster, Donald (Sandra) Webster Jr. and Faith (Manuel) Quintillan; five great- grandchildren, Vanessa (Timothy) Stevens, Victoria (Stephen Olesen) Varga, Elizabeth Varga, Nicholas Quintillan and Amanda Dianocky; great- great- grandchildren, William and Eryka Stevens; half-sisters, Frances Main, Louise Shade, Hannah McNeil, Alice Betts; her half- brother, Ralph Shore; sisters-in-law, Ida Webster and Noreen Webster along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was predeceased by her father , Joseph Thompson Webster who was killed at Vimy Ridge in 1917 during W.W.1; her mother, Mary Livinia Shore in 1976; her loving husband, Norman “Bill” Shaw in 1975; brothers, John, Edward, Ralph, Albert and Harry Webster; half-brothers, Henry and Douglas Shore and her grandson, Aaron Webster. Mary lived in the Okanagan Valley for many years, leaving in June, 2005 due to failing health to live with her grand-daughter and family in Edmonton, Alberta. These final months allowed Pamela and Wayne to learn even more about what a loving, strong, giving, spiritual and caring person “Granny” was. Great-grand-daughter, Vicky also spent a great deal of time with “Granny” in these last months and her visits were always greatly anticipated as “Toad” always delighted her with warmth, kindness and thoughtful gifts of flowers, verse or simple tales of her day’s events. Great-grand-daughter, Vanessa’ s visits together with her family were wonderful times filled with the joy of little ones (WIlliam and Eryka). Great- grand-daughter, Elizabeth, although far away in Yellowknife sent her love along with tales and photos of her northern adventure which thrilled and amused Granny. Mary was involved with the Salvation Army for many years, first in Penticton and then in Vernon. Giving came naturally to Mary; when it was helping a family member, a friend, making items for church sales or donating her time and money to other favorite charities. Mary’s wishes were to be cremated and to be laid to rest with her loving husband “Bill”. A Celebration Of Mary’s Life will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, November 18th, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. with Cpt. Doris Townsend officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. At the conclusion of the Graveside Service a Reception will take place in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Mary to the Salvation Army, 3303 – 32nd Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 2M7.
