Mary Granberg

1912 – 2007

Mary was born on December 27th, near Crowtherview, Saskatchewan to John and Julia Egyed, and was sister to Julia, Madeline, Irma, Frank, John, Robert, Steve, Ernie and Frankie. The family moved to British Columbia in the late ‘20’s, first in Abbotsford and eventually to the Kelowna area.

Mary married George Fichter in 1931 in Enderby and a daughter Eva and son Larry were born in 1933 and 1937 respectively. They moved to the Princeton area. George died in an accident in 1946.

Mary remarried and with her second husband Hank Granberg, her third child Michael was born. They moved to Richmond and later, Burnaby.

Mary retired in 1978 from the Delta Airport Inn and enjoyed a very active retirement, including traveling, crafts, community college courses, and family.

She moved to Vernon in 1991.

Mary was tragically predeceased by all 3 of her children, and by all her siblings except Irma Matheson of Vancouver.

Mary is survived by her loving grandchildren;

Joyce, Sally, Daniel, Susan and Douglas, and her

great-grandchildren, Kyle and Ben.

She will be fondly remembered and missed by many persons around Vernon, and from the Kiwanis Village.

Mary passed away November 28th, just before 11 in the morning, with family at her side. She will be interred at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with no public service being held.
