Mary was born on December 13th, 1936 in Armstrong, B.C. and passed away on April 15th, 2017 in the North Okanagan Hospice at the age of 80 years. She waited until her beloved husband Horst left this world so he could open the door to their new home and welcome her there.
Mary was born into a home where there was immense hardship and because of that, she was orphaned as a young girl together with her sister, Marjorie. From a very young age Mary had a vivacious personality and was one who was a real social butterfly. Everywhere that Mary went, she always made friends and she had a gift of being able to draw people to her because of her love and warmth. She was an avid outdoor enthusiast and helped to create a wonderful paradise both in the home and the yard that she and Horst worked together to make. Here she hosted many large gatherings for both family and friends and spent many hours over the years planting beautiful flowers for everyone to enjoy. Mary was a nurse by profession, loved spending time with her family and friends, and travelling as much as possible.

A private family Graveside Service will be held at the Coldstream Cemetery with Pastor Craig Tufts officiating prior to a Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance for Horst and Mary which will take place at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Monday, April 24th, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Bob Thompson officiating.
Horst and Mary will be lovingly remembered by their daughter Karen; two grandsons, Shaun Trager and Ryan Besler; Horst’s eldest sister, Christel (Sigi) Roth; Mary’s younger brother, Alex Goodenough; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
