MAUREEN SCHLEITH (nee Peterson)

The family of Maureen Schleith (nee Peterson) sadly announces her passing on Thursday, January 17, 2008 after a long and full life. Beloved wife of Wilf Schleith. Maureen was a loving and generous mother who always wanted the best for her children, Shawna (Ray), Ken (Naomi), Linnea (Al), Harry, Marguerite (Bill) and Alma (JL). Adoring and cherished grandmother to Jarad, Jennifer, Megan, Daniel, Shelly, Laura, Sarah, Cherrie, Amanda, Tyler, Cora and loving great grandmother to Tasha and Josh. Survived by her loving brother Harry and lovingly remembered by niece, Dana, and nephew, Shane. Maureen was born in Edmonton in 1934 and lived with her parents in Alberta and BC. She spent her teenage years in New Denver, a time and place she cherished forever. Her life took her to Ontario, Germany, Manitoba, and back to her home in BC. She came to Vernon in 1980 and met Wilf, fell in love and married him in 1982. She loved the mountains and lakes of BC and spent many happy years traveling and visiting with her family. She was an avid bowler, and enjoyed the friendship of her teams, and winning the league team trophy. She loved the garden of flowers that Wilf made for her every year. The family expresses its deepest gratitude to the staff at the Vernon Dialysis Unit for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maureen may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada BC Branch, #320-1600 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6J 9Z9. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.
