Murray Spence Gilchrist

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Murray Spence Gilchrist on December 8, 2010 in Vernon BC at 83 years of age. Murray is survived by his wife Simonne; his children Gary (Rhonda), Robin (Bruce) Wittmack, Brent (Caroline); his grandchildren Spence (Ashley), Kayla, Robert, Keaton, Mathieu, Jack, MacGuire; his great grandchildren Rhys and Grayson; and his sisters Mary and Rena. Murray was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Mary Gilchrist; his sisters Jean and Janie; and his brothers James and Robert. Murray was born in Foam Lake SK on January 19, 1927. He worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator in and around Saskatchewan, moving the family to Vernon in 1971. Murray then worked as a construction contractor and eventually formed his own company in 1982. He retired in 1997. Murray’s greatest pleasure was to watch any and all hockey and baseball games, especially when his children and grandchildren played. Murray was the foundation of our family. He was a kind, happy and caring man. Our dad, grandpa, husband will leave a big hole in our hearts and will be dearly missed. Funeral Service to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 14, 2010 at Trinity United Church (3300 Alexis Park Drive, Vernon BC).
