Penny was born on February 10, 1945 in Saskatoon, SK. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 6, 2017. She is survived by her husband Doug Dickie, daughters Rebecca Coad and Sarah Coad (Tyler Ow), granddaughters Emily and Juliet, brother and sister-in-law Peter and Lenore Coad, step daughters Jennifer Dickie and LeAnn Mogerman (Aaron Mogerman) and grandson Isaac. Penny graduated from the University of Saskatchewan, practicing pharmacy in Saskatoon and Vancouver before settling in Vernon where she was a well known and respected member of the medical community. Penny was a world traveller, having visited over 60 countries in her lifetime. She had many adventures. She followed the sun around the globe for two years, drove from Alaska to Peru where she learned to speak Spanish, hitchhiked across the Sahara with the Bedouins, walked from Vienna to Prague and toured through India. Her last trip was a visit to China in September. Penny was a masterful chef who loved to host her family and friends. She was a movie enthusiast who never missed the Academy Awards or a Best Film nominee. Penny will be missed and remembered for her wise counsel, no-nonsense approach to life, positive spirit and meticulous housekeeping. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NONA Child Development Centre (nona-cdc.com).
