REV. RICHARD ALAN RABUCK

August 27, 1962 – August 29, 2004

Rev. Richard Alan Rabuck passed away peacefully at Vernon Hospice House on Sunday, August 29 at the age of 42. Rick will be sadly missed by his wife Rhonda and his daughters Danika and Makenzie; his parents and in-laws; his brothers and sisters; his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Rick was born in St. Maries, Idaho on August 27, 1962. He graduated from the Canadian Bible School in Regina in 1984, and began his first ministry as Youth Pastor in Trail, B.C. that year. On May 5 of 1985 he was married to Rhonda.

Rick and Rhonda served as missionaries with CAMA Services in Thailand for two years before becoming both Youth and Missions pastor at Peace Portal Alliance in White Rock, B.C. from 1989 to 1993. From White Rock, Rick and Rhonda moved to Calgary, Alberta to work for Samaritan’s Purse, travelling extensively to third-world countries for four years, often taking youth groups on these mission trips.

Rick joined the staff of Vernon Alliance Church as Associate Pastor in 1996, and later was installed as Senior Pastor. He will be lovingly remembered for his love for his family, his love for life’s adventures, and his passion for “broken” people. He truly lived what he believed, extending grace to all he met. His belief in Jesus, and his love for God never wavered, even during the toughest times in his battle with leukemia. He is at peace now.

A special thank you goes to Dr. Stephen Friesen for giving such special care to Rick.

The funeral will be held at Vernon Alliance Church on Thursday, September 2nd at 5:00 pm. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, with Rev. Doug Wiebe officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made through the Vernon Alliance Church to the homeless and street people of Vernon.
