Rhoda Jean Lavallee

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Rhoda Jean Lavallee on January 22, 2006 at The Gateby Care Residence in Vernon, BC at the age of 88 years. She will be missed by her children, John Barker and Esther of Vernon, Linda Schwarz, (Phil), Birtle, Man., Chris Barker (Susan), Abbotsford, BC, Gerry Barker and Brenda of Vancouver, BC, her brother, Norman Lennox of North Vancouver, BC, 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Barker, Sr., her second husband Willy Lavallee, and her first born daughter, Bett, (Elizabeth) Borushynski. Rhoda was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on January 24th, 1917, and lived for a few years in Banff, AB, before settling down in Winnipeg, Man. In 1976, she moved with her first husband, John from Winnipeg to Vernon, BC where she lived out her retirement years. Rhoda was a very caring and loving family person. She loved playing board games, and card games with family and friends, loved to travel and succeeded in her lifetime desire to visit Scotland, home of her ancestors. Rhoda enjoyed being a member of the Rebekah Lodge for 61 years, in Winnipeg and Vernon. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 27th at 2 pm at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 3701-32nd Ave., (off Alexis Park Drive). In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Society or a charity of choice. Arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home. 542-0155
