Robert (Bob) Gordon Jackson

March 18, 1923 – July 31, 2010

Robert (Bob) Gordon Jackson passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on July 31, 2010. Bob was born in Neepawa, Man. on March 18, 1923 to parents Joseph and Mary Jackson. He was the youngest of eight siblings.

Bob will be sadly missed by Wilma, his loving wife of 64 years. Daughters Cheryl (John) Heady of Burnaby, B.C. and Sandra Nelson of Vernon B.C. Grand-daughter Amy(Fred) Peters, great-grand children Dylan, Paige, Emily all of Lumby B.C. As well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary Jackson, four sisters, Bertha Hosler, Pearl Kolesar, Lillian McMurray, Madge Gibbs, three brothers, George, Carl and Melvin. He was also predeceased by his great-grandson Lucas Nelson.

Bob was a World War II veteran, serving with the Fort Garry Horse Tank Corp. After the war he married Wilma and they were blessed with two daughters. They made their home in the B.X. area for many years. It was a haven for friends and family. Bob’s life was filled with good friends and he was dedicated to his church. Bob loved the outdoors. He was employed by the Vernon Box and Pine Co. until it closed in 1970 and then worked for Tolko Industries in Lavington until his retirement in 1988.

Cremation will precede a funeral service which will be held at All Saints Anglican Church 3205 27th St. Vernon, B.C. on August 7th, 2010 at 2:00pm with Reverend Canon Peter Davison officiating, tea to follow. Special thanks goes to the wonderful staff at Polson Special Care, as well as Dr. Botha and Dr. Kader
