Robert Desrochers

Robert (Bob) Alexander Desrochers

August 14th, 1947 – June 3rd, 2010

June 3rd, 2010 was a day of great sadness in our hearts and will be for the remainder of our days. On that day Robert (Bob) Alexander Desrochers, our loving husband, father and grandpa, lost his long battle to cancer. His courage and determination through suffering was an inspiration to all around him.

Bob married his high school sweetheart, Donna, in Regina in 1968. They moved to Vernon in 1971 and were blessed with two children, Jeff and Angie. His children have wonderful memories of their childhood days biking, skiing, swimming, fishing, and playing soccer with their dad.

Bob spent most of his life working in cable tv. He especially enjoyed working for Omega Communications taking care of the cable plant at Big White. He took great pride in his profession and was extremely hard working and loyal.

Bob and Donna attended Emmanuel Baptist Church and for 17 years were volunteer leaders of the AWANA program. To this day, he is still remembered by the youth that attended as “Commander Bob.”

Bob loved his granddaughters Siena & Sofia. As an avid boater, many hours were spent on Okanagan Lake teaching Siena to fish. Bob treasured time spent at the park pushing Sofia on the swings and helping Siena on the monkey bars.

In later years, Bob & Donna created many memories by travelling with family and friends to places such as Israel, Egypt, and cruises to the Caribbean.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Donna, his son, Jeff (Giulia), his daughter, Angie (Rob), his grandchildren, Siena & Sofia, his mother, Dorothy, two brothers; Ed & Richard, two sisters; Lorraine & Cecilia, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Noel.

Bob passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. At the end, Bob was sustained by his faith in Jesus Christ and will be rewarded in Heaven.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 11th, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Coldstream Cemetery. A Memorial Service will follow at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor David Fairbrother officiating.
