Robert Russell (Bob) Johnson, aged 68 years, passed away suddenly as a result of a car accident on Monday, January 4, 2010. He was born in Calgary, Ab. and moved around a lot as his father worked for the CPR. Bob graduated from the University of Alberta with a BA in Education. Throughout his life he had many jobs in many fields. He did teach for a short time in Sk. He was a stock broker in Vancouver, ran his own janitorial business in Banff, and retired as a care aid in Vernon.
Bob loved the fun things in life. In his early years he skied, sailed, played football and travelled. Mexico was his favourite place. Then he discovered his true love, golf. Bob was an artist. He created pen and ink pictures of historical buildings in the Armstrong area that he sold prints of and charcoal portraits. He also created many wood and stone carvings.
Bob was a versatile man with a charming personality. He was predeceased by his parents, Rex and Georgie Johnson and his only sister, Colleen Hubbard and her husband Bernie. He is survived by his niece Sandy McMurray, her children Darren (Charlotte) McMurray and Rhonda (Vlad) McMurray; his nephew Steve (Cora) Hubbard and his children Dan (Joy) Hubbard and Christina Smith; several great-great nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial tea held at Personal Alternatives Tearoom, 2980 Smith Drive, Armstrong on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate Bob’s life.
