We are saddened to announce the passing of our father on October 29, 2017 at age 87.
Dad had a great life. He was born in Vancouver, raised a family in Vernon, built his own business, and enjoyed a long and active retirement. He will be missed but is remembered with great affection and love.
Dad is survived by his sons Mark Corbett (Patricia) and Bob Corbett (all of Vernon), grandchildren Sean Corbett (Amanda) of Vancouver, Neil Corbett (Amy) of Vancouver, and Megan Corbett (James) of Kelowna, his brother David Corbett of Savannah, Georgia, as well as nieces and nephews Pattie, Scott, Dean, David, Donald, Scott and Brian.
Dad was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis, his daughter Lori, and his mother, Glenna Barnes, step father George Barnes and father Frank Corbett.
Dad and Mom moved to Vernon in 1954 and quickly became part of the social and business communities. They were members of the Kalamalka Country Club until their passing, the Vernon Golf and Country Club until limited by health, the Kiwanis and Kiwassa Clubs, and the Vernon Bridge Club.
Dad's business career focused on building Corbett Office Equipment from its start in our basement through to its present store, and his retirement in 1990.
Dad was always happiest around family and his many good friends, normally with a golf club, tennis racquet, pool cue, or deck of cards at the ready.
A celebration of Dad's life will be held on Saturday December 2, 2017 at 1 pm at the Vernon Golf and Country Club.
The family is grateful to the staff at North Okanagan Hospice, Vernon Jubilee Hospital and Coldstream Meadows for their thoughtful, dignified, and compassionate care of Dad over his final months.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Dad's memory be made to the North Okanagan Hospice Society or the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
