Ronald Weir

WEIR

It is with deepest sorrow that we regret to announce the sudden yet peaceful passing of Ronald (Ron) Alexander Weir at his home on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002 at the age of 64.

Born August 22, 1938 in Vancouver, B.C., Ron is survived and very much missed by his loving wife of 39 years, Gail, daughter Lisa (Bill) Leir of Coldstream, B.C., son Michael (Shannon) Weir of Sparwood, B.C., and his pride and joy grandchildren, Christopher and Brady Leir and Tyson and Mya Weir.

Ron is further survived by his brother Den(Jan) Weir of Kelowna, sister Doreen Weir , also of Kelowna, as well as numerous relatives throughout the lower mainland. Ron was predeceased by his parents Kathleen and Alexander Weir, both of Vancouver.

Ron retired from the Bank of Montreal in 1995 after 40 years of service. Nearly 25 of those years were spent throughout the Okanagan, with opportunities to work with fantastic people from locations in Penticton, Summerland, Kelowna, Vernon and Enderby. Staff and customers gave him his greatest pleasure during his career, and he worked hard to please everyone.

Ron loved to spend his retirement gardening, puttering in the yard, visiting with friends and family, and fussing over the family cat ‘Smokey’. He was looking forward to receiving his first pension cheque. His lifetime passion for watching the game of hockey, baseball and playing cards was only surpassed by his love and devotion to his family. Early summer mornings often found him quietly playing solitaire as he watched the sun rise from their cabin on Okanagan Lake while family and guests slept.

As per Ron’s wishes, a private family service followed by cremation was held Tues., Oct. 15, 2002 with Pastor Sean Wong officiating. Those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions in memory of Ron to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon, 202-2407 27th Ave Vernon. V1T 1S1. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be e-mailed to pvfh@canada.com
