Rosalie M Dawe (Née Meuwly)

Passed away peacefully at the age of 67 at her residence on the 16 of December, 2004, with her loving family by her side, after a courageous twenty year battle with cancer. Rosalie is survived by her husband of 47 years Gerald (Duke), daughters Elizabeth of Toronto, Marlene (Bruce) Madole of Brampton Ont, Geraldine of Cold Lake AB. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Meuwly in 1977, and her mother Margeret in 1997. Born, 1937 and raised in New Westminster B.C. Served in the RCAF from 1955 to 1957, stationed RCAF Station Comox where she met her husband, married in 1957, Elizabeth and Marlene born there, before moving to Summerside PEI where Geraldine was born. After Summerside she resided with her family in Brighton, Ontario for ten years. Then came a move to Edmonton, Alberta, and then in 1974 back to Brighton, Ontario. During her working life she worked in a Hardware store, Dental Offices, Sears, and Post Offices. In 1980 on her husband’s discharge fron the military came a move back to Edmonton. In 1982 a final move to Vernon. Where she loved her home and family, especially her grandsons, Richard (Liz) great grandsons Jonathan, William, and David Kotowicz. While Geraldine and her family were stationed in Germany she insisted that a visit was made each year, so that her young grandsons would know her. For over ten years she was a volunteer with Vernon Cancer Society, which she gave up only to become a caregiver to her mother who also had cancer. She leaves to mourn her, aunts Kay Miller of Coquitlam, Betty Bickert of Prince George, uncle David (Rosemary) Howden of Abbotsford, sister-in-laws, JoAnne Dawe, Victoria, Kay (Bill) Salter, Surrey, and Sharon Dawe, Vernon, many cousins in Canada and Switzerland, and nieces and nephews. She was member of 899(NO) Wing RCAF Association. Friends wishing to do so may pay their last respects to Rosalie at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Sunday, December 19, between 3 and 4 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Pleasant Valley Funeral Chapel on 20 December 2004 at 1:30 pm with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. Interment in Vernon Cemetery. At the conclusion of the Grave side Service a reception will be held in the Tea Room at the Chapel. Flowers are gratefully declined, however as an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations to their charity of choice.
