On January 20, 2007, the Creator peacefully called our Mother (Rose Janet Marchand) at the age of 69. Rose was predeceased by her parents, Charles Bessette and Mary Abel and step-father, Edward Fred; brother Allard Wilbur Bessette; son-in-law, Philip Wilson; nephew, JR Belanger; grandparents, Joe Abel and Mariette; 2 grandchildren, Brenden Oliverius and Francine Brown. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: son, Wilbur Marchand (Shelley), Kamloops, BC; daughter-in-law, Colleen Marchand, Vernon; daughters, Bernadine Marchand Brown (Lee Brown of Vancouver), Salmon River, Susan (Richard) Oliverius, Vernon, May Wilson (Ike Martens), Vernon, Bernice (Timothy) Jensen, Chase, Marlene Marchand (Steven Ring), Keremeos, son-in-law, Richard Holmes, Hedley, BC; Julie (Mario) Richard, Anne Marchand (Jody), Vancouver; son, Joseph (Jennifer) Marchand, Vancouver; brothers, Victor (Wendy) Antoine, Louis (Shorty) Fred; sisters, Hilda (Marcel) Belanger, all of Vernon; Kathy Phillips Jovel (Theodore) of Escandido, California, and Dora Boston of Abbotsford, BC; life-long friend and husband, Ralph Joseph Marchand. “Gramma Rose” will be missed by her 36 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and also numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Family was Mom’s number one priority with many a weekend spent taking her children and grandchildren to sporting events and garage sales, special moments that we will always cherish. In the latter years, many fond memories of taking Mom on trips to Mexico, California, Reno, and Las Vegas, and going to Pow Wows enjoying her grandchildren dancing. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 24, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Martin Peyton, celebrant. Interment will follow in Head of the Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose’s memory may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association, Box 1301, Vernon V1T 6N6.
