RUBERTA SOMERSET

SOMERSET

RUBERTA (Ruby) GRACE SOMERSET (nee Kaiser) a long time resident of Oyama, B.C. passed away peacefully at the Polson Multi Level Unit of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Tuesday, August 26, 2003 at the age of 82 years. For many years Ruby battled several illnesses and health concerns with great strength and courage we all admired. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by in-laws Gilbert (Joan) Somerset of Richmond, B.C., Muriel Metcalf of Winfield, B.C., Helen McLaughlin of Peachland, B.C., Mary Kaiser of Fairveiw, AB, and all her cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Many friends and the dedicated neighbors who so faithfully stood by her will miss her wonderful smile and the quiet gentle nature she had. The last of four children and the only girl born to homesteading farmers Reinhart and Grace Kaiser at Peace River, AB on August 7, 1921, she was raised and schooled in the Golden Meadow district near Whitelaw, AB. Shortly after her fathers death in 1940 Ruby and her mother made their way to the Okanagan where she met Harold Somerset of Armstrong, B.C. Their marriage in 1944 lasted 58 years until his death on March 1, 2003. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 6, 2003 in the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna.
