Stefan (Steve) Romanchuk
Born in the Ukraine on June 3, 1929, passed away on July 4, 2007 in Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Predeceased by his wife, Ruth, and parents, Harry and Dora Romanchuk. Steve came to Canada at the age of 3 months with his parents and older brother. His family settled near Smoky Lake, Alberta, moving to B.C. in 1944. We remember Steve as an entrepreneur and a hard worker from a very early age. After a lengthy career as a sawyer in sawmills on the West Coast, Steve, together with his wife, embarked upon a new career in the hospitality industry. They owned and managed several hotels and motels in Alberta and B.C. and settled in Vernon after their retirement. Steve put up a good fight as he battled a lung disease which afflicted him for the last several years. His brothers, John, Tom, Mike, Nick and sister, Olga, along with extended family will always remember Steve with love and fondness. A family memorial was held at Vernon on July 11, 2007.
