SMITH

1915 – 2006

On May 12th, 2006 Susan Margaret Smith passed away at the Polson Multi-Level Facility in Vernon at the age of 90.

Susan was born in Plum Coulee, Manitoba and second oldest in a family of nine. She grew up in southern Manitoba and married Earl A. Smith from Gretna, Manitoba and settled there raising five children before moving to Penticton, British Columbia. They owned and operated the Hillside grocery on Vancouver Ave. from 1956-62 before moving to Abbotsford where they owned and ran the Mac Kay Market on McKenzie Blvd. And in 1979 returned to the Okanagan, Vernon. Earl died at the age of 66 from complications of MS and Susan lived our her remaining years in Lavington.

She was a wonderful mother and wife who stayed by her husband through thick and thin. She was my best friend.

Susan is survived by her five children, Jean Shelley of Kamloops, Murray Smith of Okinawa, Bonnie Young of Mission, Tom Smith of Armstrong and Robert Smith of Lavington.

Susan will be dearly missed as all that knew her, loved her.
