“Syl” McGuinness

passed away in the Alexander Wing of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Sunday, December 2nd, 2007 at the age of 90 years, just nine days after the death of his son, Roy.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Ann (Alan) Wilson of Vernon, B.C., Sylvia McGuinness of Langley, B.C. and Pamela (Bill) Ruhland of Calgary, Alberta; his son, Don (Chris) McGuinness of Dubai, United Arab Emirates; his daughter-in-law, Denise McGuinness of Atlanta, Georgia; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Audrey Robinson of Belfast, Northern Ireland and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Besides his son Roy, Syl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Bain “Granny” McGuinness on July 19th, 2004; one brother and four sisters. Syl was a Charter Member of the Oliver Lions Club. His greatest passions in life were his love of music and his family. He leaves a wonderful legacy of love in the many special poems which he wrote over the years.

The Funeral Service will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 7th, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. with The Reverend Rita Harrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The family invites friends to join them at a Reception which will take place in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel at the conclusion of the Graveside Service.
