Walter Josef Pitzal was born on January 26th, 1931 and was called Home to be with his Lord on March 16th, 2017 at the age of 86 years.
Walter will be lovingly remembered by his wife Irmgard, to whom he was married for 53 years. He will be looking out from above, over his first son, Roland and his two grandsons, Roland Jr. and Thomas, along with his four great-grandchildren. He will also look over his youngest son, Ralph and his wife Suzanne and his two granddaughters, Avery and Alyse. Walter will be missed by his sister, Hermine; nieces, Peggy and Wanda and Peggy’s husband, Mike; his cousin, Frank, his wife Barbara and family; and Irmgard’s two brothers and their families. He will be greatly missed by his neighbours, Bill and Connie and their family and his best friend, Mike.
Walter was known to all as a man who had a loving and caring heart. He was greatly appreciated and loved in the Gymnastics community for his never ending championship coaching. He will be missed in the Edelweiss Society, where he was one of the founding members and also one who was a master float builder for the Winter Carnival. Walter was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church as well as the Schubert Centre. To his family and close friends, Walter was known as Mr. Fix-It and was not only able to fix, but also create anything. He loved the outdoors, travelling and spending time with his family and friends. Walter will be missed by those who loved him here but will be well cared for by God above and those family and friends who were waiting for him when he arrived Home.
Cremation preceded the Funeral Service which will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Thursday, March 23rd, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Craig Tufts officiating.
