Bill was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Anna Sawka, sister Alice Ostrass, brother Nick Sawka, brother-in-law Herbie Fisher and father-in-law Harry Kersey.

Bill spent his whole life in “the best place on earth”, Vernon.

He began his working years at Fishers Hardware and then spent 20 years with Ok Builders and another 20 at Fairglass.

Bill would spend many summer days on a golf course with “the boys”. He spent his summers swimming in his

pool with his grandchildren trying their best to cannonball him. He loved singing along with Elvis, Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Conway Twitty and Dean Martin with a cold beer in hand. He spent many years playing slo-pitch with the A.C.T. boys. During the winter months you could find Bill at the Vernon Viper games as he was a long time season’s ticket holder. He also spent many, many evenings trying to perfect his spaghetti recipe and drinking wine by the fire, doing a crossword.

Many thanks to all the doctors, nurses and paramedics that helped with Bill’s care in Vernon and Kelowna. Also thanks to all of the friends and family that visited while he was in the hospital.

At Bill’s request there will be no funeral. Please join us in remembering him, and for wine and pasta, anytime between 1:00 and 4:00 PM on Saturday, April 15 at the Schubert Center.

In lieu of flowers please make any donations to the B.C. Children’s Hospital.

As Bill would say, “Thanks for the Memories.”
