William (Bill) Douglas Rice was born on July 30th, 1929 in Kimberley, B.C. and passed away on June 6th, 2017 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 87 years. Bill will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 66 years; Joan, his children; Shirley (David) Pilfold, Kenneth (Stephanie) Rice, Pat (Jeff) Todd and Jim (Shelly) Rice, his grandchildren; James, Joel, Leah, Shelley and Beverly, his great-grandchildren; Payton, Taylor and Dominic along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Harry and Astrid Rice, his son; Stanley, his grandson; Noel and by his sisters.
Bill will be fondly remembered for his love of walking and meeting new people on his daily adventures. He would go for walks downtown everyday in the rain, sleet, snow or sunshine and rack up a total of approximately 17 blocks twice a day!
In respecting Bill’s wishes, he was cremated and no funeral service will be held.
