WILLIAMS NICKEL

William Nickel was born on September 17, 1916 in Poland. He passed away on March 24, 2004 at his home in Vernon, surrounded by his loving family. Bill immigrated to Vernon from Germany in 1949 and worked for his uncle (Leo Price) until the business was sold to Sasges Cement. Bill worked for 25 years for Sasges until his retirement. Bill was an active member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis; children: Irene (Stan) Fors, Marlene Nickel, Bernie (Sharon) Nickel, and Terry (Lorraine) Nickel. He is also survived by grandchildren: Danny Ahlm, Christina, Tracy, Stephanie, Karla and Sam Nickel and great-grandchild Ethen Ahlm. He is also survived by step-grandchildren: Kevin (Jeri) Fors, Jason (Michelle) Fors, and Aaron (Kim) Fors; and step-great-grandchildren Mike Ahlm, Devon, Brittany, Jordon, Brodie, Kyle, Trevor, Shayla and Eric Fors; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, also his step-mother, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 27, at 11:00 A.M at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church, with the Reverend Roy White officiating. Interment will follow in Vernon City Cemetery.
