Wya Olivier

On Sunday, October 21, 2007, Wya Olivier went to be with her beloved Lord and Savior. Aged 86 years. Predeceased by husband Fopko in 2000, Wya will be lovingly remembered by four sons Bill (Jurrina) of Vernon, Lody (Monica) of Vernon, Fred (Inkie) of Kaledon and Martin (Janet) of Victoria; daughter Wilma (Ferdinand) Reinsma of Armstrong; fifteen grandchildren Renee, Camella, Erin, Nathan, Yolanda, Maria, Laurence, Krista, Andrea, Alyssa, Daniel, Cameron, Carina, Jeanna and Stefan; thirteen great-grandchildren Megan, Michael, Ty, Maya, Salome, Emma, Anaiah, Anna, Jacob, Abigail, Lauren, Sara and Ava; sister Lies (Okko) Korvemaker of Parksville; nieces, nephews and friends. Wya immigrated to Canada from Holland in 1955 with husband Fopko and the three eldest boys. Settling first in Campbell River then Victoria and finally moving to Armstrong fourteen years ago where she has resided since. Wya and Fopko owned and operated a Deli and Drygoods Store – The Wooden Shoe for twenty-two years until retiring. She enjoyed her children and grand children, knitting, crocheting, sewing, travelling, music, loved to socialize with her church friends and serving the Lord with all her heart. The family would like to thank the nurses at Polson Care Facility (Sunshine Valley Wing) for their loving and attentive care of Wya. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Armstrong, on Saturday, October 27, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Doug Swanson officiating.
